It has the Via P4M800 Pro chipset. This Gentoo system is the first distro to run correctly with my mobo. I used the GUI 2006.0 CD (one day before 2006.1 came out :() and installed X-Org 7.0 and GCC 4.1.1. I also built a new kernel with very little tweaking as I'm just trying to get XvMC working with mplayer and MythTV quickly.

Thank you both for your responses! I've attached the lspci -vvv
output, but it seems threading isn't working with my responses (which
may having something to do with forum/mailer responses), so I'll
attach again here.
Definitely interested in your kernel .config although I'm quite
confident there isn't anything wrong with mine (but comparing the
differences might help). I'm running Xorg-7.1, maybe I'll downgrade
to 7.0 I have done a recent -uD world update in trying to get this
all working (actually I did it twice because my GCC toolchain changed
during it) but still no change.
I'll downgrade and see if that fixes it. Thanks again!
