 I upgraded to version 213 of the code
 re-run autogen.
 autogen.sh --prefix=/usr/
 make
 sudo make install
 everything OK (as I said but just to make sure I mention everything)
 Sorry about the 2 versions of Xorg, not sure how to delete one of those.
 BTW the hint about modifying the loading of libraries worked, no more
 libOpenGL loading problems.
