Comment:

 After "(II) VIA(0): VIASave", here the Xorg.0.log continues with "(II)
 VIA(0): VIAWriteMode" and "(II) VIA(0): ViaModePrimary", and so on.
 The stray "VT162xSave" in your log must mean that the driver has at that
 point already lost its bearings.  Do others get beyond this point with a
 K8M800?  Could someone post an Xorg.0.log of that?  I've put in a few
 extra debugging lines, Michel, just out of curiosity -- svn update
 openchrome again, and paste the last few lines of the log before the
 backtrace.
