hardware zooming (and color conversion), which is the Xv thing, is only  
part of the story. XvMC VLD is the full MPEG-2 decoding which allmost  
completely offloads the CPU during movie playback (well mpeg2 movies,  
like dvds). This does not work ATM (any status on how far we are from  
that??).
moreover it seems that the cx700 is able to decode at least partially  
mpeg4 and perhaps h264??
In any case you will get much lower cpu usage when this is working.
