Hi Folks,

I'm working with the Epia CN10k board, and having some success with
openchrome. (That's the EPIA with a 1625 but no usable HD output)

Thoughts:

1) Gentoo is a great system for this work - they catch the patches
pretty fast. I haven't got 3D working yet, and am not sure I'll try for
it, but MPEG with mplayer is working great, basically out of the box.

2) I'm still messing with my xorg.conf file to get NTSC output. My new
fancy LCD screen (which supports HD and PAL and whatnot) seems happy
with various settings, but my old CRT TV isn't. In particular, I'm still
confused about the interaction between the practical implications of the
following xorg.conf settings:

HorizSync,
VertRefresh,
Modeline,
Modes

Terry Barnaby's xorg.conf file got me this far (one working TV) - and
finally clued me to my real problems, which were leaving CRT+TV in the
BIOS. The Wiki page talks all about mode settings, but not much about
the interaction of the other three settings with the modes - are they
ignored by the driver? by X? Changing each one and watching the results
is tedious, although I'm working through it. And I'll wiki my tips, when
they work.

I'd love to see someone's working xorg.conf for a straight NTSC TVOUT
system, especially for a 1625-based system - and have it posted
somewhere (I haven't poked through the svn yet).

3) Great work to all - my attempts to use the stock VIA drivers on
Gentoo were - let's say - frustrating. That's not news to all here. I
did a little hardware wiki page for the CN10k at Gentoo, and expressed
my opinion that OpenChrome was the only usable choice for this board and
Gentoo.

Cheers,
-brianb
