TvOut NTSC 1625 No Joy
Hi Folks,

I have a VT1625 attached to my CN10000. I'm running a very recent Gentoo (1.6.19 kernel).

The current svn runs darned nice on the standard CRT output. I get all the MPEG acceleration goodies, no patches required. I also get joy with the TvOut PAL NoScale options (I test with a recent "westinghouse" LCD TV which seems to be happy eating PAL and NTSC) - although I always get a 4:3, which lops the top and bottom off the 13:9 TV.

My goal is to run on a real NTSC TV (pref. SVIDEO).

Turning on NTSC gives me no joy, both on that display and a standard CRT. There is much flashing, I see two ghosts of the cursor and the gnome splash.

I've tried SVIDEO and COMPOSITE, all possible resolutions, the experimental branch, the "billionmonkeys" xorg.conf.

What I haven't fully tried yet is rolling back SVN revisions and applying the patch recommended by "billionmonkeys".

I've looked through the Xorg.log, and see a few things that are suspicious - but I see similar output in the PAL NoScale option which is working.

Any clues? Anyone got VT625 NTSC TvOut working anymore?

Anyone willing to look at an xorg.log? If so, what format should I try, out of all the NTSC variants?

Thanks,
-brianb
