hmm, weird. I have an epia M10K too and playing a DVD with xine is 
around 10% CPU usage. This box runs Fedora for ages now (currently fully 
uptodate F8) and the CPU usage while playing DVD didn't change since 
XvMC VLD is working fine.

Do you have an xorg log so I can compare with mine ?
