I've clarified that I've got VLD XvMC working in xine with CN700. I
previously had frame drops but I fixed those with BIOS settings. CPU
usage is still much higher than with CN400.

For some reason VLD XvMC on CN700 is not working in 0.21 Mythtv (build
18314 through gentoo). There is documentation dating back to March
about some issues but nothing clear. The same build works with CN400
VLD XvMC and xine using CN700.

There have been issues with kernel 2.6.25 and using SLUB memory
allocation (which replaced SLAB as the default). In the last couple of
days this patch
(http://wiki.openchrome.org/pipermail/openchrome-devel/2008-November/000140.html
) has been submitted to correct a memory-related bug in openchrome.

For my purposes, my only remaining problem is MythTV using CN700 (a
MythTV issue, not openchrome).

My aim is to move my stable MythTV setup (CN400/VGA/1280x720 output) to
a supported fanless platform with DVI/HDMI output at the same
resolution. I'm stuck unless i can get past the MythTV with CN700
issue.
