[Openchrome-users] Much improved picture from TV out but intermittent sync problem

I recently built a MythTV frontend for playing PAL-I
content to a SD CRT TV, using Minimyth on a motherboard
with CN700/VT1622A. I was initially disappointer with
the picture quality compared with my old DVRs, both in
terms of colour saturation, and sharpness. Somebody
yesterday pointed me to the TVDeinterlacer setting;
setting that to 0, rather than 2, has greatly improved
sharpness, but that has uncovered a previously hidden
problem. I now seem to sometimes get the fields synced
the wrong way around, giving me a ghosting double image
on all moving objects. It looks like I get fields
displayed in order 3, 2, 5, 4, 7, 6,... It's not
a disaster because messing with rewind and pause will
usually put it right and then it stays right until
next time I pause or rewind. I don't seem to get
the problem with mplayer, only with the MythTv
internal player.

There's a similar sounding problem mentioned in the Unichrome
TV out page. Is this known to be still a problem? I
read about the use of bobdeint as a cure. I can't do that
because my frontend doesn't quite have the grunt to run it
for all content. In any case, if I understand how bobdeing
works (which maybe I don't) then it wouldn't be a completel
cure, it would turn temporal missyncing into spacial missyncing.

Any work still going on towards this? Anything I can
do to help?

Cheers,
	Paul.
