 I have attached: Xorg.log.r686-with-Yuval-Hager-patch-against-via_lvds.c

 Unfortunately Yuval's patch does nothing but add:

 (II) CHROME(0): YH: ViaLVDSDFPPower NOT WRITING!

 ... to Xorg.log.  I'm not sure if he was looking at the right place to
 find the source of the problem.

 I can however confirm that before issuing: "xset dpms force standby" if I
 view the Broadcom chipset with: " lspci -d 14e4:4312 -x" it looks ok.
 After issuing: "xset dpms force standby" the card does contain all FF 's!
 So I believe Yuval identified the corruption (but not it's source).
