 Are you using a screen connected to the VGA port or a panel connected to
 the LVDS port ?
 My feeling is you're using VGA. What happens if you force the driver to
 use only the VGA output ?
 Add Option "ActiveDevice" "CRT" to the Device section of your xorg conf.
