Hi.
I forgot mention that you don't have to do this all things.
All you must do is, use new mode switch by adding to your /etc/X11/xorg.conf
file following line:
Option "modeSwitch" "new"
If xorg.conf file doesn't exist, try to create it.
It is the easiest way to start resolving your problem.
In free time try to build openchrome from trunk :-)
