... then I tried upgrading to Ubuntu 10.10 (Natty),, and now the GUI won't run at all. See attached log.

I am beginning to wonder why linix is listed a supportd operating system for this motherboard...!

Subject: [Openchrome-users] EPIA-M720 (VX900) xorg.conf (EE) No devices detected

I have 'upgraded' my MythTV frontend HTPC from an EPIA-VIA-EN12000 to an EPIA-M720 in the hope of getting HDTV for a change. Of course, now my HTPC is a brick...

I am running ubuntu 10.04 LTS because later versions wouldn't install because they would end up in a video mode that no monitor would display.

I got Xorg.conf working again by issuing the command "sudo Xorg.conf -configure".

I tried using my old xorg.conf file but that didn't work. So I copied the new one it created in my home folder to /etc/X11/ and change the Driver to "openchrome" and now I get the following error:

(II) LoadModule: "openchrome"
(II) Loading /usr/lib/xorg/modules/drivers/openchrome_drv.so
(II) Module openchrome: vendor="http://openchrome.org/"
     compiled for 1.7.5, module version = 0.2.904
     Module class: X.Org Video Driver
ABI class: X.Org Video Driver, version 6.0
(II) OPENCHROME: Driver for VIA Chrome chipsets: CLE266, KM400/KN400,
     K8M800/K8N800, PM800/PM880/CN400, VM800/P4M800Pro/VN800/CN700,
     K8M890/K8N890, P4M900/VN896/CN896, CX700/VX700, P4M890, VX800/VX820,
     VX855/VX875
(II) Primary Device is: PCI 00 at 00:01:0
(EE) No devices detected.

I notice that the VX900 chip set is not listed... Do I need to upgrade to a later version of openchrome for VX900 support?

Even if so, is that really the problem? Why is it saying not devices detected?

I am new to this list and not sure of what the normal behaviour is, but have attached my log and xorg.conf in case that helps (and is permitted)

John
