Are you sure you have at least Xorg 1.14.x ?

There are many things improved over the old Xorg 1.13.x
Some issues are from Xorg itself..
With Xorg 1.13.x i only get a Blackscreen,
with Xorg 1.14.x all is working fine (except 3D).
