[Openchrome-users] Ubuntu package?

Hi Kevin,

Thanks for your help. My old notebook (Amilo Li 1705) has a VIA VN896 chipset as well. So there is some hope :-)

I was able to install version 0.6 from Dylan's repository. It just installed without any need of a further package. But it made things worse. Standby-resume still didn't work, plus: graphics got garbled when switching to a tty console (Ctrl-Alt-F1). So I went back to 0.3.3.

Before I report a bug I would like to follow your guide to compile myself - just to exclude Dylan's package as a root cause.

I also was playing around with boot parameters. Their role is unclear for me. What about "-nomodeset" for example? In some posts people say it is needed. And what about the "viafb" kernel module? Some say it should be blacklisted. But on my system it's anyway not loaded by default. (And if I load it by hand it crashes my system).

Cheers,
Marty
