[openchrome-users] VIA K8M800/K8N800/K8N800A crashes X in 1.20.3 & earlier

seems to suggest I should expect new enough software versions to work, but that's
not happening for me. X quickly aborts when attempted:

Does the above suggest maybe there is a missing (DRM?/Mesa?) dependency rather than software defect?
Is automagic Xorg configuration not expected to work with openchrome?
I got similar failure with Devuan, but with openSUSE 13.1 openchrome works as expected.
