What's the probem? You can do that anyway.
An application may indeed convert an image to the printer's
native color space and write the converted image to the page
description (e.g. PostScript) at the original image resolution.
In this case the RIP will do the rescaling and halftoning,
but will not perform color transformations on this object any
more.
