At least one CC license (Common Public Attribution License 1.0 (CPAL)) 
did obtain Open Source Initiative approval.

It seems that to date CC licenses have mostly been used for music 
distribution and for commercial "Portals" like Flickr and Wiki sites 
such as part of Wikipedia itself.

There is not much mention of open source in the Wikipedia page for 
Creative Commons (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Creative_Commons).
