I've little idea what you're talking about Edmund. Documents
should be in whatever colorspace they are tagged with. There
should be no need for any "standard" intermediate colorspace.

The printer renderer (RIP/printer driver) should render to the
intended printer colorspace, and make the appropriate color transforms
from the source.
