'LMS" sounds very generic, since a lot of the chromatic adaptation
approaches work by converting to a cone space ("Long Medium Short")
for their transformation. Some of the chromatic adaptation approaches
aren't pure matrices though - CIECAM 96S and 97 models originally used
a chromatic adaptation with a non-linear blue component. (This was
later dropped to simplify inverting it, and because it didn't make a
significant difference to the fit to the reference data.) Retinex (Land and
McCann), MacAdam and Nayatani used quite different approaches too.
Mark Fairchild has a chapter in his book "Color Appearance Models"
that surveys the approaches.
