You probably mean non colour related parameters? I am not sure if this 
makes much sense. Would this not lead to the PPD loosing other properties 
as well?

This will require some more work for implementers. What would be the 
benefit? To cover the Gutenprint curves?

With the second half sententence I agree for per user configured profiles.
