Yes, that's the conclusion I came to, if you are going to play along
with standard Postscript type drivers. The main uncertainty was whether
the drivers were going to cope with the PPD changing. Many systems
seem to assume that they are static, and that therefore they can be cached.
Of course in a Linux context you can fix this to make sure it works.

Yes, PPD's do seem to be a rather blunt sort of instrument to cope with many
of the complexities.
