Hmm - dangerous terminology. Typically this is used for characterisation, ie. profile
making, not calibration, although it might also be used for calibration.

Note that if calibration is partly being accomplished by per channel curves, then
there really should be a second mode which enables/disables calibration curves
(I've mentioned this more than once on this list...)

ie:

Normal color management enabled.
Native color space only, calibration curves enabled, for profiling.
Native color space only, calibration curves disabled, for calibration.
