That’s very unfortunate, since it is very close to it and most of the
architecture clearly fits the needs.

I do not think a tool like Synaptic should not be usable by “end
users” (whatever you think an end user is). Just because right now it is
not, doesn’t mean such a tool couldn’t be usable for everyone.

I don’t think I am underestimating it, and this is why I’m very
reluctant to do it. In the long term, it is balanced by the cost of
maintaining update-manager and synaptic, but we are far from being able
to replace them.
