[packagekit] run gpk-update-viewer as root

Hi,

I'm looking to figure out a way to run administratively as root gpk-update-viewer, and have it start up on whichever user is logged in. The problem with this is that PolicyKit will block this process unless the following environmental variables are properly set:
DISPLAY
DBUS_SESSION
XDG_SESSION_COOKIE

To get the XDG_SESSION_COOKIE, one must inspect the PID of gnome-session in order to obtain this, which isn't a bulletproof method.

Does anyone have some suggestions to circumvent this troublesome process?

Best Regards,

Matthew Mosesohn
