This is very frustrating.  I have *repeatedly* NAKed these patches
because of the stupid amount of code duplication.  Chad has been in the
process of fixing this the right way, and he just about had it ready.
So, all of this stuff is pushed, but over the coming weeks it's all
going to be replaced with well engineered code. :(
