| not yet providing an proper .pc file and create one. (or even

Would anybody care if we made pkg-config not try to call gnome-config?
It might break if you try to build ancient gnome with recent pkg-config,
but in that case, I'm tempted to just say «shame» and let people use an
older pkg-config.
