Created attachment 72218

a restructured solution for thread safe page rendering

Well, actually I wanted to wait until 0.22 is released before uploading a new
patch. But after it looks complete in my eyes I wanted to run also a regtest
with the cairo backend, even if I haven't created a test case for it (cairo
should be thread-safe in page rendering now, too), just to see if I made some
mistakes in the adjustments in the cairo code.
And so, here is the solution diff based on actual git master. Perhaps You find
the time to have a look into it before 0.22 and add Your own comments.
Of course I'll create a rebased patch after 0.22 is released and You'll give me
a go.
