         Are you using the DocInfo fields, the XMP metadata or both?

         The reason I ask is that back with Acrobat 6/PDF 1.5, Adobe 
defined that XMP takes precedence of DocInfo.  With Acrobat 7/PDF 1.6, 
there is now a more complex system that involves the comparison on 
modification dates...

         Would be good to get poppler to follow suit.
