[poppler] Postscript files created with pdftops cannot be re-exported as Postscript by typesetting programs

When you run pdftops, are you using the -eps option?Images that briefly appear and disappear can be a symptom of embedding a PS instead of an EPS.PS files often use operators like setpagedevice that cause the effect that you mentioned.
