That's a bad idea, the bug is not fixed until it is fixed in the code 
upstream.

The bug mailing list was notified since it's the default bu assignee, then you 
did the mistake of assigning the bug to yourself (and not adding the bug 
mailing list to the CC) thus removing the bug mailing list from any further 
notification of changes in the bug.
