That said, 

* "Value" vs "Version". 

I'll check the specs and fix this as needed.

indeed, that's already fixed (in the sources used to generate those files).


* "By the way, some *.desktop files in the xdg-desktop-menu sources don't have
Version=1.0.  Is it really mandatory?"

Good question, as the .desktop files here are for tests only and not installed,
it's likely not all that important.  But, will take a look soon, as it probably
does make a difference for test results.
