[Portland] [Update] xdg-utils

Hi Kevin,

This all looks great to me. Seems it'd be nice to get this under
source control; I'd be happy to submit patches, but I worry right
now that I may trample on you (or at least that's my excuse for
not doing any work <grin>).

On a tangent - what do you think about adding a capability for
a user defined hook? That is, if there is a xdg-open-hook script,
we invoke it at startup; if it returns 0, we bail and assume
it handled it.

This is likely to be overkill, but I'm thinking of some users
I've got that are beating me up right now. This would make them
leave me alone <grin>. That is, it would give the distro the
ability to override xdg-utils, and there would also be a mechanism
for users to further customize application behavior to suit their
own fancy, without having to muck with the system utilities.

Thoughts?

Cheers,

Jeremy
