[Portland] XDG-Open

Hi, 

i am facing a starge issues withe the xdg-open when ever i tried to open the .pdf file as the root user, 
it always opens in the Firefox rather than the Documnet viewer and on my another machine it opens up in the GIMP iamge viewer. 

Anyone has any idea about please, 
i m stuck in a critical sictuation and wont able to find out any other way out...
