Comment:
I'm well aware of what padevchooser is and what it is used for but that
doesn't stop the fact that it is no longer developed. If you want to take
the code and fork it that's fine knock yourself out but as I said
originally there will be no further development on it from upstream.
While you can pick the default server to use in a network environment,
it's generally not the most flexible solution. While this is in some cases
justified, the generally accepted way of working seamlessly with network
devices is to use a module-tunnel-sink and avahi/zeroconf to ensure that
your local server can see the remote sink and you can move your streams
between local and remote without having to restart them.
Also with the notification system I'm developing, it will give you the
option to move all streams and set as default any hotplugged device or
network sink that is detected, so this system will go some way to solving
the problems you present.
But like I say, padevchooser is dead and thus there is no point in keeping
this ticket open.
