 Ok. Thanks coling. I tried commenting out both hal-detect and module-
 detect in the default.pa file, and then I added load-module module-alsa-
 card device_id=0 tsched=0 instead. Didn't work, unfortunately. Still
 getting the connection refused failure from pulse.

 Sorry, but due to lack of linux skills, I couldn't test with the extra
 arguments this time, as I unsure what my card_name argument would be.

 I'm a bit unsure whether to reopen, as I'm don't quite understand what you
 mean with "the actual fix itself". But I guess it's what you just told me.
 So I'm reopening and you can just resolve it again if I was wrong. I'll
 take it to the mailing list.
