I suspect that this is a misunderstanding of what we mean by "default"
device in this context.
A better name would be "fallback" as pulse remembers the device you want
to use on a per-stream basis and only really uses the "default" value when
it has no previous record of that application playing sound before.
We are working on ways of having an "active default" (where changing the
"active default" device would automatically move any running streams
across to your new device.
We were discussing how to achieve this just recently on the mailing list.
Can you confirm I'm correct in my assessment of this bug as if I'm correct
I'll just close it :)
