Comment(by coling):

 @murz: The default-sample-channels option isn't really needed these days.
 Just leave it as the default (to work around your BT crash) and then use
 gnome-volume-control (Hardware tab) or pavucontrol (configuration tab) to
 pick a 5.1 Surround profile for your ALSA card.

 I didn't notice samr7's patch here... Trac can be a bit rubbish when
 sending notifications for attachments only :(
