 A fix has been committed to alsa-lib that should enable stereo playback
 and capture out-of-the box for ICE1712 based cards:

 You may also be interested in the following Ubuntu bug, which led to the
 fix:

 I'll resolve this as "elsewhere", since no changes are required to
 Pulseaudio.
