have an 10 channel version of the ICE 1712 chipset and the drivers maybee
only configrated for maximum 4 channels and all you have to do is to
specify the following lines, aux5,aux6,aux7,aux8 and so on? and then it
maybee work? i dont know.
The alsa configuration fix should already be included in Ubuntu 11.04. You
shouldn't have to do any additional configuration changes. If 11.04
doesn't work for you, then the Pulseaudio log would be interesting
(preferably with default alsa and pulseaudio configuration).
> Aha! Then i understand a bit more how its built. But what are OSS
drivers exactly?
The sound card drivers in Linux were provided by OSS, until ALSA replaced
OSS a long time ago. There shouldn't be any need to use the OSS drivers -
if you think otherwise, you're on your own - don't expect any support from
Pulseaudio if you have the OSS drivers installed.
> But plain Ubuntu that is installed by "default" (in other words, Not
Ubuntu studio that is installed) doesnt use Jack as far Ive understand?
Yes, Jack isn't targeted at "normal" desktop computer use, so Ubuntu
doesn't use it by default. I believe it's available for installing,
though.
> Cant we get it to work using Pulseaudio?
Hopefully yes.
> If im correct, Pulseaudio and Alsa is the same, right?
Alsa provides the kernel drivers, Pulseaudio is a sound server that talks
to Alsa.
