Thanks for your reply.
I was just wondering. Can I re-use the module-pipe-sink such that
instead of operating on a FIFO Pipe file("/tmp/fifo.output") use my
/dev/XXX node? When I say re-use I'd change the way buffer size/sample
rate/format is changed as per my requirements.
Kindly throw some light on this.

All output modules for Unix kernel APIs work like that. The ALSA, the
OSS and the Solaris driver too.
If you work on Linux and you are working on a kernel audio driver then
the best solution is to simply make it a proper ALSA driver. That would
free you from writing a special PA module for that.

There a couple of pages in the wiki that explain how to write PA
plugins. Take them with a grain of salt however, since they tend to be
out of date. Otherwise: read the sources! If you have questions ask them
on the ML or on #pulseaudio on freenode.
