I have tested this patch with aplay and pacat running in parallel and it
seems to work very well for me.  However I have noticed one problem.  When
mplayer is running, aplay and pacat cannot run in parallel.  One is
blocked until other finishes.  This does not seem to be related to your
patch as this happens with clean version from git as well.  But not with
system installation of PulseAudio (released version 3.0).  I run mplayer
to listen internet radio with this command:

mplayer -quiet -novideo -ao pulse -playlist 'http://www.echoekb.ru/echoekb.m3u'
