Pulseaudio panel works but no daemon and no sound at int speakers (sound at
log in)

The speaker works...... drum roll at log in screen.
On entry to Ubuntu/Xubuntu speaker sound is lost.
External speakers work

Pulseaudio panel 'bar monitor' dances correctly when sound is played.

Ran lots of tests.
The two most relevant are:

rm -r ~/.pulse*; pulseaudio -k
E: [pulseaudio] main.c: Failed to kill daemon: No such process

pacmd
No PulseAudio daemon running, or not running as session daemon.

System 12.04 LTS
