I doubt it; not only does dmidecode require root permissions, but also 
there's the problem of matching in case there is more than one port.

To solve the first problem, maybe the kernel driver could make use of 
the DMI information and create jack kctls with a suitable name, or 
expose the info some other way...that said, maybe it is better to get 
the same info from the video driver.
