Release wranglers,

The minutes from today's call:

Attendees
---------
Paul Anderson
Jim Gettys
Kevin Martin
Andy Ritger
Matthias
Alan Coopersmith
Stuart Kreitman

General ssh access on fd has been disabled due to a security
vulnernability. Kevin is able to add access via an IP address.
If you need access to meet commitments for the current release,
send your IP address to Kevin (kem at freedesktop.org).

Bug status
----------
Kevin has been going through bugzilla and found a lot of
bugs block bug #351 (the release bug). Many of these,
however, have patches already in bugzilla, and Kevin would
like to see people checking these in at this time.

Andy asked what the review process is prior to people checking in
changes. Jim noted that it depends who you are (component owner)
and where we are in the release cycle. Kevin's comments are
that many of these fixes are innocuous enough and have been reviewed
enough that they could be going into the tree now.

There are 6 other bugs that need more attention:
#922: A problem with RENDER acceleration
      - Enabling RENDER acceleration in this driver conflicts with
the memory management. Kevin plans to turn this off until a
a patch becomes available. This is disappointing, but the best
approach at this stage of the release.

#925: Freetype issue
      - Everything has been checked into the tree
      - Jim noted that this issue needs to be mentioned in the release notes
      - Jim also mentioned that we need a way to keep track of things
that must be added to the release notes.

#964: Xprint starts to consume 100% of the CPU when it's idle
      - Roland isn't sure what else to do on this. Kevin asked for others
to help out if possible. This is currently listed as a release
blocker. We'll have to make a decision sometime next week about
extending the code freeze deadline or deferring some bugs to
        the next release.

#972: Xprint may try to install things in /etc when nothing outside of
      ProjectRoot is defined
      - Kevin has a proposed solution and will ping Roland Mainz for
        feedback.

#990: Changes in Composite cause a problem initializing the colormap
      - This is a problem with the DIX colormap code. There could be
some other issues like this. Kevin is looking through the Composite
code to see if there are other issues like this, and he hopes to
have this done after the weekend.
      -	There is another bug where Composite exposes extra visuals, and
that can have ill-effects with some applications out there. Keith
has proposed solution for this, but it's not clear if this will be
ready in time for the release. Nevertheless, this problem needs
to be addressed in a future release when Composite is enabled by
        default.

#890: Patch to phase out legacy keyboard support
      - Kevin is curious if anyone is still using the legacy driver. The
patch leaves the code in there but protected by an ifdef. The
plan is to apply the patch, add this to the "documentation bug"
and put this on the list to be removed in the next release.

Andy noted that Stefan found that some of the Composite changes
break binary compatibility with the nVidia driver. This shouldn't
happen, so this bug will be elevated to a release blocker. This
is bug #976.

Recruiting other people for testing
-----------------------------------
Some new rpms are almost ready for people to start using. Stuart
was recruiting heavily yesterday at LinuxWorld. People are working
to get tinderbox to do more in an automated fashion to help with
this. Jim has been in contact with OSDL about this.

Success criteria
----------------
See the agenda for Kevin's proposed requirements for success criteria.
This is just a proposal, please add other comments.

- Build requirements
  - build with no host.def file
  - build with BuildServersOnly defined as YES
  - build with DoLoadableServer defined as NO (initial e-mail said YES)
  * Kevin will turn these into host.def files and update the web page
    accordingly

- Install requirements
  - Build/install w/o host.def
  - Build and install with:
    (a) ProjectRoot defined to be something other than the default,
        and
    (b) NothingOutsideProjectRoot defined as YES

- Conformance testing
  - VSW4 test suite
  - It was noted that the VSW4 download page at opengroup.org is broken.
We need to get this fixed.

(I had to drop out at 10:00AM MDT. If anyone wants to summarize
the discussion after I left the call, please feel free.)
