need a name for the server we build from the XFree86 ddx?

I think using any name that resembles "XFree86" is best to avoid,
in order to avoid end user confusion between the two projects,
and minimize support problems for both projects and those who
ship the code. We also should of course respect the XFree86
project's contributions over the years, and their trademark and
likenesses to it as well.

Jim suggested just calling the X server "X11". We could also go
with the quaint "X", or "Xserver". Seems rather nameless to me,
and that they would also cause confusion. We need to try to look
at a name from the end user's perspective as well, and avoid
confusing them in the already confusing X world. By naming it
"X11", there would be confusion as to wether the "X11 protocol"
or the "X11 X server" was being refered to in some contexts.

I think a new name which is more creative, user friendly,
pronounceable, not already a trademark, is as short as possible,
and contains the letter X, preferably at the beginning of the
name would be something better than the ones mentioned above.

Some suggestions:

(arbitrarly fabricated names, pronouncing the X as either "eks"
or "Z" depending on which sounds nicer in the word)
