Welcome to the new folks on the list! Feel free to introduce
yourselves, if you like.

So a problem with all maps, both paper and digital, is that you can't
always show the information you want at the scale you are using. For a
digital map, the solution is to zoom in.

Can we do better? How about putting the name of the thing (street,
park, lake, pointofinterest) pointed to with the mouse on the status
bar? Or in a fast-changing tooltip? It might make for an easy way to
browse without zooming in/out all the time.

Or it might be feature-creep. You tell me!

On a similar note, should we ensure that names are drawn for ALL roads
at the tightest zoom level? If not, and without the feature above,
there are roads whose name you just can't discover.

We can accomplish this by reducing font size until it fits, and it'll
work for all but the smallest of roads.
