Thanks for the replies.  I now have a successful compile.

But it doesn't work.  The only menu item that seems to do anything
is the anti-alias option, and all that probably does is toggle the
indicator.

Probably more incompatability with bleeding-edge gtk, et al....

I'll give another try after mysql is no longer required.

(If it were to use a sql db, I'd tend to prefer pgsql,
since I have that running anyway on the laptop.
But sqlite is also cool.)
