Yup, turning this in GObject is already quite a big change, better to
keep other improvements for later. For what it's worth, my hope all
along has been that the GObject work would allow to split the code a
bit more sanely into more separate chunks. After having less
interdependencies between the various objects, it will hopefully be a
bit easier to rework into something which makes more sense.
