Agreed.

Another option would be to make the dot flatter by shaving off its top. 
This would also increase the gap between the dot and the loop, making 
the dot easier to distinguish at small sizes.

I think either all of the stroke ends should be rounded, or none of 
them should be. It looks odd to have the top end curved and the bottom 
end square.

I like the rounded version -- it looks friendlier.
